Nikolay Koev
Graduated Sculpture of the Faculty of Fine Art at Veliko Tarnovo University “St. Cyril and St. Methodius”, Bulgaria in 1989. Won contest of Ministry of Education and obtained fellow of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy. Specialized “Sculpture`s techniques” in Academy of Fine Arts in Florence during 1994/95 academic year. Lecturer in Sculpture at Faculty of Fine Art since 1990. The teaching on “Etude” and “Composition” demands profound knowledge about the specificity and methods of the matter, in accordance with the active educative program, the development of the sculpture in historical plan and the contemporary tendencies. His job requires individual approach to every student which leads to differentiation of the method in correspondence with the level and individual talent of the students. In the discipline “Stone carving” and “Small plastic forms” the projecting is orient on execution in material. His professional skills in technologies’ area in stone carving, ceramics, metals, wood, glass, resin and other non traditional materials help him to answer the necessary requirements in the process of materialization of the plastic idea.
His scientific and creative researches are conditioned by his professional commitment. The interest in classic technologies is in addition with searching of new materials and technologies, subordinated of author’s ideas and aims. Result of continued work is the monograph “Artistic bronze casting” Edition of Veliko Tarnovo University “St. Cyril and St. Methodius”, 2002, which follows in historical plan the technology’s process on casting of bronze sculpture and representing it like part of creative process. The special part systematizes all stages of the realization of the sculpture in bronze.
During 2003-2007 he was Lecturer in Sculpture at High Institute of Arts – Kairouan, Tunisia. Teacher’s residence in Tunisia helped for enlargement and confirmation of his professional’s experience in many directions. Except sculpture he had the provocation to teach drawing, painting, forms, technology of execution of the projects in specialties ceramics, jewelry, furniture’s design, industrial’s design. The detail knowledge of art and culture traditions blended through his professional experience and the teaching.
Member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists – V. Tarnovo.
